On Tuesday, Adobe released a public beta of version 4.2 of its Lightroom image editing program. The Lightroom 4.2 update includes support for many new cameras and lens profiles, and fixed some bugs. It's a free update for all current Lightroom 4 customers.
I've been following the 'slow issues' for a bit and am getting ready to buy a new computer. I'm working now with a somewhat underpowered (RAM and I'm maxed out) older custom Win machine and have been trying to decide what specs I need to give to my computer guys for the new one (I've been accumulating info on best build for Photoshop and figuring they would be the same for Lightroom but some in other threads have indicated that that didn't always work out but assume it is being addressed).
I've used LR since beta one and even slow, love LR 4.1. Happy to see so many bug fixes.
The next is from adobe about Fixed Issues in Lightroom 4.2 release candidate:
- Background graphics that are applied to a Book globally may not appear as expected in a Saved PDF.
- Double byte characters are not being exported to PDF in Books.
- Folder stacks with virtual copies get unstacked when moving to another folder.
- Stacked photos get hidden in both the Grid view and Filmstrip. This occurs when photos get unstacked as a result of enabling auto-stacking.
- Errors encountered when publishing videos to Facebook through the Facebook Publish Service.
- Users may have occurred problems when trying to enter the Web Module from Library.
- Unable to edit JPEG photos in Photoshop Elements.
- Certain book covers had spine text positioned in a Horizontal manner, not Vertical.
- Photos were exported with original GPS coordinates recorded by the camera, not with the GPS coordinates updated in Lightroom.
- Keyboard shortcuts in the Develop module sometimes do not work when editing an image in Process Version PV2010.
- Parents and synonyms of "do not export" keywords also do not export.
Release Notes:
This release of Lightroom 4.2 is prerelease software and is designed for evaluation purposes only. The software contained within the installer is not final; but many portions of the technology are fully implemented and ready for you to try and discuss.
